SMART Habit Saturday

The weekend already…..time to reflect and realise how I’ve let time get away from me and not worked on my own personal goals. It is amazing that how daily life “just happens” and you realise that you have done nothing you planned……….come to think of it my life is like that LOL. Though really, to achieve anything in life you really have to make an effort to put your goals first and not let life distract you too much (see all those self help books have paid off………………mmmmmmm maybe a little!). My toddlers do not BUT distract me….two thoughts in a row not about them is an achievement these days…but again I am being distracted!). Exercise is like that for me. It has been a top priority of mine for quite a while but not that you would ever know from my life, as well, I never exercise.Something always takes priority (over my top priority…mmmm!), like staying in bed an extra 30 mins, cleaning the house, not wanting to hear my kids cry and whine about being in the stroller, college work..I could go on but I’m sure you get what I’m trying to say. So this week, I am going to pin all my goals on the fridge and make an effort to work my “life” around my goals.

1. Flossing

2. Looking after feet

3. Drinking more water and one cup of milk daily

4. Eat at least 6 servings of fruit and veg a day

5. Give up sugar popcorn

6. Write in my journal daily

7. To start baking my own bread instead of buying it

8. Finding healthy, delicious, and filling breakfasts for my kids

9. To continue writing food journal and start one for the kids

10. To keep on top of my homework and do well in my tests

11. To have my dishes loaded in the dishwasher and the kitchen counters tidy before I go to bed at night.

and new for this week (as well as making the goals a priority)

EXERCISE………..to walk at least three times a week (its a start)

I sucked at EVERYTHING this week so no update needed. This is going to be my week however……..head over to The Lazy Organizer to find out what others are up to this week and see whether they did better than me………..

SMART Habit Saturday

Here I am again…………..I seem to float in and out of my SMART Habits. But thank you to The Lazy Organizer for being there every time I feel I need to get my daily life goals on track and check in with myself to see how I am still doing.

1. Flossing – still a habit

2. Looking after feet – This one has gone to the wayside but hey its winter now, they probably won’t come out again till next summer anyway!

3. Drinking more water and one cup of milk daily – water OK but the daily milk never really took hold………………..but I am still hopeful that one day I will start making smoothies

4. Eat at least 6 servings of fruit and veg a day – Anyone who reads my blog knows that this one has definately taken effect! I put pureed vegetables in EVERYTHING now…… from the morning scrambled eggs, to lunch’s soup and to dinner……….

5. Give up sugar popcorn – this is still a bad habit but usually only a once or twice a week bad habit

6. Write in my journal daily – this one is now a daily habit and I am loving it. It feels like a treat and one that I am not giving up!

7. To start baking my own bread instead of buying it – I am making my own bread though not often enough not to have to buy some too.

8. Finding healthy, delicious, and filling breakfasts for my kids – the kids are still hooked on fruit oatmeal (haven’t hidden any veg in it yet……”yet” being the word!)

9. To continue writing food journal and start one for the kids – Never really got into this and in light of everything I have going on, this is being dropped for the time being.

10. To keep on top of my homework, hand in my first assignment on time and do well at my first test on Thursday – didn’t do too great on this test, only got a c+ but my overall grade for my class so far is a B so I am more than happy with this. Especially as I am finding it really hard and at the beginning of the year I would have just been happy to pass…….now I want at least a B.

and the new goal for this week…………

11. To have my dishes loaded in the dishwasher and the kitchen counters tidy before I go to bed at night. I use to be great at this and I have really let it slide lately…………and urghhhhh nothing worse than getting up in the morning to a kitchen full of dirty dishes and the kids screaming for breakfast, juices, etc etc……………..

Smart Habit Saturday

It’s been awhile since I’ve participated in this but I thought it would be a great way to get back into my blog and also see how much I’ve let myself go over this break! Having to answer to Smart Habit Saturday actually kept me on track (well some!!!). I am going back to college to take a transfer degree. I have dreams of becoming a nutritionist but my local college doesn’t do that four year degree so I am taking the two year transfer degree (over three years) and I will see where life takes me. My maths wasn’t up to college level so at the moment I am taking a pre-algebra class and it totally sucks!!! But I am so excited to be at college………….I have had this dream since I left school 18 yes that right 18 years ago. I am not surprised that I have to take a math class first as I sucked at it 18 years ago and that was just high school level!!!

1. Floss – a habit

2. Looking after feet – I give them some attention at least weekly and that seems to be enough.

3. Drinking more water and one cup of milk daily – water OK, and I am doing pretty well on the milk, I drink some most days…….never opened up the blender though………..still the blender is there waiting and dreaming of being used for a smoothie

Eat at least 6 servings of fruit and veg a day – Some days great and other days not so great. On the whole I am better that before I started this goal on Smart Habit Saturday so I guess that is a success.……

5. Give up sugar popcorn – this is still a bad habit but usually only a once or twice a week bad habit

6. Write in my journal daily – still not a daily habit like I would prefer but I do write every other day or two and for now that is better than not doing it at all.

7. To start baking my own bread instead of buying it – I am making my own bread though not often enough not to have to buy some too.

8. Finding healthy, delicious, and filling breakfasts for my kids – well I went through lots of different things and I have now found something the kids like and I am happy with – they like the fruit and cream variety instant oatmeal. If I get really lucky the eat the fresh fruit on top too!

9. To continue writing food journal and start one for the kids – Never really got into this and in light of everything I have going on, this is being dropped for the time being.

Smart Habit Saturday

And AGAIN I am late! With the grandparents in town, life has turned upside down (in a good way) but I am behind in everything especially blogging, my smart habits and reading my other favorite blogs so everyone please bear with me for the next couple of weeks, I will be random with everything!

1. Floss – a habit again this week

2. Looking after feet – not much again this week, need to start stepping (!) this up a bit.

3. Drinking more water and one cup of milk daily – water OK, still missing the milk and still not opened the blender……………

4. Eat 6 servings of fruit and veg a day – Sucked at this yet again. I feel so much better when I do it, it just has to be such a conscious effort and I haven’t been putting in the time……

5. Give up sugar popcorn – popcorn only once this week.

6. Write in my journal daily – not at all last week – so I haven’t written for weeks now

7. To start baking my own bread instead of buying it – AGAIN didn’t make any and yes I did buy some this week (told you I was slacking in the smart habit department!)

8. Finding healthy, delicious, and filling breakfasts for my kids – still a work in progress and working with the ones that I have already tried. Haven’t had chance to try any new ones yet.

9. To continue writing food journal and start one for the kids – Sucked at this. Didn’t do mine (and yes my eating is a lot worse) and no, haven’t yet started with the kids, so who knows what they are eating LOL

10. I just need to go back over and put more effort into the “habits” I already have – I give myself a fail at this. Will have to try a lot harder.

11. Have lots of fun with kids and grandparents – lets hope I do well at this one this week!

Smart Habit Saturday

I haven’t been too great at my “habits” this week. I guess I was due a bad week after being so good last week, plus its that time of month which always makes me lose my way a bit.

1. Floss – whilst a habit I didn’t floss that much due to broken tooth this week

2. Looking after feet – not much this week, in fact I think I only did it once but that’s OK as I don’t need to do it that often any more. I would like to keep to a few nights a week though.

3. Drinking more water and one cup of milk daily – water OK but I don’t think I drank much milk at all this last week………..will have to pick this up again next week..though I have just brought a new blender so I can make some healthy shakes.

4. Eat 6 servings of fruit and veg a day – I sucked at this last week. I was getting so good too………

5. Give up sugar popcorn – I had sugar popcorn twice last week. I notice I am increasing again slowly. Will have to stop.

6. Write in my journal daily – not at all last week

7. To start baking my own bread instead of buying it – I didn’t bake any this week but I didn’t buy any either (still had some homemade left in the freezer)

8. Finding healthy, delicious, and filling breakfasts for my kids – mixed success – see last post

9. To continue writing food journal and start one for the kids – I continued with mine but haven’t started one for the kids yet

and for this week

10. I just need to go back over and put more effort into the “habits” I already have. This is a bit of a disappointment to me but I think I have my hands full already so i don’t want to overwhelmed myself and lose hope.

Smart Habit Saturday

Another weekend rolls around………..and this one was eagerly awaited, as I leave my kids with Dad for the day and of to the Indian with a friend I go. I can’t even begin to tell you have excited I am. I LOVE Indian food and I haven’t had it for months. But anyway, I will get to the point of the post……………..smart habit Saturday hosted by The Lazy Organizer has rolled around again. I have been doing great on my new habits this week so I am very happy to post the update

1. Floss – flossed every night this week and on the whole this has been going really well

2. Looking after feet – going well, not every night but most

3. Drinking more water and one cup of milk daily – going very well and the milk is becoming more of a habit now also………..I make it milkshake and that way it is more appealing to me………will have to work on making healthier shakes than nesquik though

4. Eat 6 servings of fruit and veg a day – this one has been such a struggle for me. I cannot believe how little fruit and veg was in my diet but I have been working on it and I think this week was a breakthrough as it is becoming more natural to snack on fruit and veg now. Still a work in progress but going well.

5. Give up sugar popcorn – I had sugar popcorn once this week but once in two weeks is not bad

6. Write in my journal daily – getting there but still not a daily habit yet

7. To start baking my own bread instead of buying it – did it and it was a great success – reminds me, need to make some more today, actually maybe tomorrow now.………

8. Finding healthy, delicious, and filling breakfasts for my kids – mixed success. Still need to work on this, though thinking I make be to hard on myself. I will write a post about it in the near future.

and for the new habit………………

9. To continue with a food journal and start one for the kids – I have been doing this for the last week as I have been trying to get to the bottom of my migraines and I have eaten so much better. Its amazing how much you stop and think about what you put in your mouth when you know you are going to have to write it down.

Smart Habit Saturday

Yeah……….. here I am………..and on time! I am amazed that I have kept to this weekly new habit system but somehow it works for me so a big thank you to The Lazy Organizer for hosting.

1. Floss – was going great but have been a bit slack this week, will make efforts to improve

2. Looking after feet – going well, not every night but most

3. Drinking more water and one cup of milk daily – going very well and the milk is becoming more of a habit now also………..I make it milkshake and that way it is more appealing to me………will have to work on making healthier shakes than nesquik though

Smart Habit Saturday

So yet again I am late with my smart habit Saturday post……………maybe getting to link at The Lazy organizer’s site on time should be my next new habit…………….Anyway, here is my update and my new habit for this week is going to be………….

1. Floss – going great, almost a habit now

2. Looking after feet – going well, not every night but most

3. Drinking more water and one cup of milk daily – still a work in progress especially the milk

4. Eat 6 servings of fruit and veg a day – this is so hard but I am working on it……..I find if I put out some fruit and veg on the counter, I grab pieces as I walk past so I like doing that and vow to do it every day

5. Give up sugar popcorn – failing though it is no longer a nightly habit but still I eat it at least a couple of time a week

6. Write in my journal daily – getting there but still not a daily habit yet

Smart Habit Saturday

Well I am late at my Smart Habit Saturday this week (as it is now Sunday evening) but I didn’t want to miss a week and, I live by the motto, better late than never!!! As with my blog, my new habits, didn’t go too well this week, though I did keep to them some days, which is better than not at all right!

My new habit for this week is……………. to write in my journal daily , in the morning, if possible. I love writing in my journal and find it keeps me on track with my priorities and keeps me more emotionally balanced. I enjoy finding out about myself……………..I also pledge to do better with all my other habits

1. Floss

2. Looking after feet

3. Drinking more water and one cup of milk daily

4. Eat 6 servings of fruit and veg a day

5. Give up sugar popcorn

Smart Habit Saturday

Well, all my new great habits took a beating this week. With camping at the weekend and then being ill with a migraine for most of the week, I don’t think there is one habit I have successful stuck too. So this week I am going to have to step up ………

1. Floss

2. Looking after feet

3. Drinking more water and one cup of milk daily

4. Eat 6 servings of fruit and veg a day

5. Give up sugar popcorn

So as you can see, my new habit this week, is to give up my nightly sugar fix. Whilst this is going to be the most difficult, I think it will be the most rewarding. I have been getting a lot of headaches and with the most recent migraine, it wouldn’t surprise me if this nightly bad habit is the cause or maybe just making it worse. I plan to sew or bead instead. Those last couple of hours before bed is the only time I really sit still for that length of time and I find I need to do something with my hands else I eat!
